| Bernhard Bohnenberger, a German citizen, joined Six Senses Hotels, Resorts and Spas in late 1991 as Development Director, and was appointed Managing Director of the company at the beginning of 1996.
As a Lausanne Hotel School graduate, Bohnenberger has a strong traditional hotel education at one of the world’s best hotel schools. He is also a gifted linguist being fluent in five languages with knowledge of several more Bohnenberger’s hotel work experience includes the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten in Munich, Hotel Baur au Lac in Zurich and The Peninsula, Hongkong, hotels noted for their high standards of service and facilities where he concentrated on the operations side of the business.
From 1985 until joining Six Senses, he worked in Hong Kong, initially for Hilton International at the Hongkong Hilton Hotel in Food and Beverage Management and Banqueting.
From the Hilton in 1988, he was recruited by the Omni Marco Polo Hotel Group to be Assistant Food and Beverage Manager at Omni The Hongkong Hotel. After one year he was promoted to Food and Beverage Manager of one of Hongkong’s largest food and beverage operations of 10 outlets.
While at Omni The Hongkong Hotel he was instrumental in some extensive operating concept changes within his department. The experience he has gained in new product development from conceptualisation to implementation serves him in good stead for project development. This experience gave him the desire to move into project development as the next stage of his career.
Since joining Six Senses, Bohnenberger has been working on a multitude of resort projects exposing him to the market in every country in Indochina and most of Asia. His varied background, both in the more conventional city hotel organisation as well as the more entrepreneurial resort market provide him with the ideal basis to lead Six Senses Hotels, Resorts & Spas.
