Social Responsibility

We share Zighy Bay with a small village where families live off fishing, date farming, and goats. The Omani government has committed to try to preserve the way of life among the Musandam inhabitants and prevent abandonment of the peninsula. Therefore, a regular supply of necessities such as water and basic food is flown in or taken here by boat. Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay represents a new opportunity for several of the villagers to earn an income without having to leave their beautiful Zighy Bay, and we are glad that a good number of them have decided to join us. In addition to providing employment opportunities, our resort’s Social and Environmental Responsibility Fund (SERF)
ensures that a part of our revenue is invested in selfsustaining environmental and community projects here in Zighy Bay, in Musandam and in the rest of the Sultanate. Yearly, 0.5% of total revenue goes into the SERF fund. In our effort to give back to the local community, we collaborate with organizations on both the Omani and UAE side. Our closest partners include the Environment Society Oman (ESO), Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) and the Emirates Diving Association (EDA).

The Care for Children Foundation operates in China where it exists to relieve hardship, distress and sickness in abandoned and orphaned children. To date, the foundation has provided new homes and families to more than 14,000 children throughout China. At all Six Senses Resorts we invite our guests to make a donation to Care for Children by “adopting” a stuffed toy animal; at Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay, this is a toy camel.

Restaurants Against Hunger is a non-governmental organization with a broad international network that fights hunger in over forty countries. It specializes in emergency situations of war, conflict, and natural disasters and provides long-term assistance to people in distress with the ultimate goal to help vulnerable populations regain their self-sufficiency for long-term sustainability. Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay is affiliated with Restaurants Against Hunger, allowing our guests to contribute to the campaign by selecting a special dish from our menu.
