Mr. Derek Watanabe
Thirty five years old Derek Watanabe brings talent, experience and enthusiasm to his position of Executive Chef at Evason Ana Mandara Nha Trang.
His responsibilities include overseeing the oprtations of the resorts’s two restaurants in addition to the banquet facilities. Outside catering and stewarding.
Derek’s culinary career started in 1981 in Honolulu with his last position there being at the Kahala Hilton before he moved to Coloradoin 1984. In 1989, he joined the Four Seasons Los Angeles as Senior Sous Chef, before coming to Asia with The Regent Jakarta as Restaurant Chef. Prior to his promotion to The Regent Resort Chiang Mai, he was Senior Sous Chef at The Regent Hong Kong for one year.
Born and raised in Hawaii, in 1987 Derek acquired an Associate of Applied Science in Business Administration and in 1989,he attended the Culinary Institute of America in New York and qualified as an Associate of Arts in Occupational Studies.
