Top award for Six Senses Douro Valley
Best Achievement in Design has been presented to Six Senses Douro Valley by Virtuoso - the international network of luxury travel agencies, at the 11th Annual ‘Best Of The Best’ awards.
Less than two years after its opening Six Senses Douro Valley has been recognized worldwide as the resort with the Best Achievement in Design in Virtuoso’s 11th annual “Best of the Best” Awards. The winners were the result of a weeklong vote held amongst Virtuoso's travel agency members and their final selections were revealed during Virtuoso Travel Week's Hotels & Resorts Dinner that took place at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas recently.
Virtuoso, the international network of luxury travel agencies, has announced the winners for its prestigious “Best of the Best” hotel awards. Being the leading international travel agency network specialized in luxury and experiential travel, this by-invitation-only organization comprises hundreds of travel agency members with more than 11,400 elite travel advisors in 40 countries throughout the world. These award nominees represent the highest standard in their given category and illustrate what is trending in the industry.
The resort’s design project by Clodagh Design, New York, addresses all the senses and incorporates elements that give the resort local flair and authenticity, showcasing recycled local features in line with Six Senses sustainability values. The 57-guest accommodation quinta, or wine estate, dates to the late 19th century when it was known as Quinta Vale de Abraão and its contemporary interiors reflect both this rich heritage and Six Senses’ design values.
