Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas to Develop Resort and Spa in the Austrian Alps

BANGKOK – July 19, 2017 – Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas is set to add yet another extraordinary destination to its portfolio of properties in some of the world’s most beautiful and inspiring locations.

Set in the breathtakingly picturesque Austrian Alps, Six Senses Kitzbühel Alps showcases its stunning environment through all seasons: from winter’s snow covered terrain with high-end ski activities, to spectacular summers when the landscape is vibrant with nature’s verdant palette of colors. Featuring some of the finest cross country skiing and downhill slopes in the world, Kitzbühel has been named a winner of best ski station in the world by www.skiresort.de three times. With over 104 miles (168 kilometers) of ski runs, the property will offer ski-in, ski-out access and in summer there are 75 miles (120 kilometers) of mountain bike paths and 311 miles (500 kilometers) of hiking trails to explore.

Nearby is High Tauern National Park (Nationalpark Hohe Tauern) measuring approximately 708 square miles (1,834 square kilometers) which is the largest of Austria's seven national parks and the largest nature reserve in the Alps. The High Tauern include 350 summits towering 9,842 feet (3,000 meters) all within the panorama view of the resort. The range includes Austria's highest mountain, the Grossglockner which measures 12,461 feet (3,798 meters) above the Adriatic.

Six Senses Kitzbühel Alps will feature 80 guest accommodations, include 50 residences, plus a small village of chalets available for private sale. It is being developed by Kitzbüheler Alps Projekt GmbH, with architects for the hotel/residences and chalets IAW - International Architecture Workshop, Turin, Düsseldorf, Moscow and hotel interior design consultants Martin Brudnizki Design Studio and Six Senses Spa Kitzbühel Alps by Six Senses Creative. Project management and landscape design is being carried out by AECOM who also overseas sustainability aiming at LEED certification, with emphasis on the latest energy technology such as solar or heat exchange.

The overall design concept of Six Senses Kitzbühel Alps could best be described as a modern interpretation of traditional Austrian design. Warm natural finishes incorporate wood and stone with the introduction of rough-hewn exposed timber beams in public areas. Glorious swaths of natural light wed the seasons to the interiors and the restrained use of art and craft features subtly define the setting.

Dining at Six Senses Kitzbühel Alps will focus on seasonality with a restaurant focusing on local dishes with ingredients supplied from nearby organic farms.  An all-day venue features a delicatessen and international fare. This venue is also located near the resort’s meeting and special events facilities that offer a direct link to vehicular parking. The lobby bar will feature innovative beverage services and offer alfresco seating in the warmer seasons. The spa café will also offer outside dining plus an indoor dining room with fireplace.

Emphasis on well-being and wellness is the mission of Six Senses Spa at Kitzbühel Alps and the perfect place to ease tired muscles after an exhilarating day on the slopes. In addition to a range of signature massages, restorative therapies, facials, body treatments and personal journeys, the spa will be the pivotal point for Six Senses Integrated Wellness, which is based on the preventative principles of Eastern medicine and the result-oriented Western influences. This innovative approach to wellness allows in-house experts to measure and analyze key physiological biomarkers in order to provide guests with lifestyle and nutritional advice and design a personalized program of spa treatments, fitness and wellness activities. It provides guests with real health benefits, enhances their lives, educates and guides them on their wellness journey, while making the whole experience straightforward and fun.

Six Senses Kitzbühel Alps is located in the Austrian state of Salzburg and is within comfortable driving
distances from several major cities with international airports. Innsbruck Salzburg and Munich are
approximately 90 minutes away. The alpine communities of Hollersbach and Mittersill are just several minutes by car, with Kitzbühel being 20 minutes or a half-day by ski. There are six lifts and six rides – four blue and two red, which are the least challenging. Among the many summer activities on offer are cycling, swimming, trekking, mountaineering, nature walks and golf.

Six Senses Kitzbühel Alps will open in 2020.
