Six Senses Crans-Montana Reopens for First Festive Season to offer a Year-round Alpine Escape

Six Senses Crans-Montana is set to reopen its doors on December 1, 2023, transforming into a winter wonderland for its first complete festive season. From now on, the resort will remain open throughout the year, offering exclusive ski-in, ski-out access from the south-facing pistes during the winter season, and a multitude of culinary, cultural, and sporting experiences all year round.

Recent enhancements include the completion of 33 Terrace Rooms and Suites that front the building, many with wide-reaching views of the 4-Vallées mountain range from the Matterhorn to Mont Blanc. Other new highlights include a flexible ballroom-to-banquet-to-boardroom venue. This offers a panoramic outdoor terrace and 850 square-meter indoor space that can divide into four separate configurations for conferences, weddings, and special events.

Adding sparkle to the season

As the snowflakes fall, Six Senses Crans-Montana comes alive. The air is filled with the aromas of winter feasts, and the warm glow of holiday lights further illuminates the mood, starting with the tree lighting ceremony. Conveniently situated on the final turn of the Chetzeron piste by the main Crans gondola, the Wild Cabin Terrace hosts après-ski with vin chaud and live music and the joyous celebrations continue into the night, with festive feasts and carols.

Christmas dinner will become a culinary symphony in Wild Cabin. For something a little different, Byakko will create an unforgettable Japanese Omakase discovery experience. As the year draws to a close, the New Year's Eve dinner in Wild Cabin and Byakko will treat diners to a grand affair, after which everyone will gather together in Ora Bar & Lounge to bid farewell to the old and welcome the new with flair and flavor.

Culinary adventures

The Swiss Alps, and Crans in particular, are synonymous with gourmet dining. Embarking on a new gastronomic era, Six Senses Crans-Montana is thrilled to welcome Chef Marco Garfagnini as Executive Chef. With an illustrious career, threefold Michelin-awarded Chef Marco infuses delicious flavors into his creations, promising a culinary experience that mirrors both his personal ethos and the property’s overall commitment to sustainable development through its Eat With Six Senses philosophy. Reflecting on this shared culinary approach, Chef Marco explains, “I don't believe a chef should get lost in trying to create many extraordinary dishes. I am an advocate for simplicity. If you concentrate on the product, it's already good to cook it simply.”

Adding to the adventure is a guided sunset snowshoe hike to explore a “Mayen”, a traditional Alpine hut used for farming and dairy production. Guests will enjoy a traditional fondue and warm tea to restore energy and, just as night falls, sleigh their way back down the mountain guided by headlamps.

Pan-seared, sustainable salmon with spinach or chicken breast, blanched carrot, and zucchini? These are just some of the delights available on the doggylicious Paw Paw Menu. Pooches are further pampered in the spa, with a range of nose-to-tail grooming packages.

Grow With Six Senses

For many, Christmas time is family time, and with accommodation options up to a Three-Bedroom Prestige Apartment, Six Senses Crans-Montana offers a homely family stay. New for the season are Grow With Six Senses children’s activities that range from the sporty to the arty. Suitable for all ages, the Return to the Roots experience is a serene and snowy moment in nature with a guided walk at dusk with the magic of the mountains all around and with homemade hot chocolate and local gingerbread to keep everyone toasty. The new access road means the short walk into Crans is easy for everyone, with a host of cultural events and music festivals on offer including a Lantern Path, Classics New Year’s Gala Concert, and Family Show.

Winter wellness

The 2,000-square-meter Six Senses Spa offers post-ski recovery and relaxation. The thermal journey includes four saunas and a cold plunge. Two therapists soothe tired limbs in the Stretch Pod. Locally inspired treatments include such delights as the 120-minute Journey to Restore and nourishing Swiss Chocolate Wrap. The Biohack Recovery Lounge is a must-try for massage loungers, muscle recovery, and ski-burned skin soothing. Interactive workshops at the Alchemy Bar focus on the healing properties of natural ingredients to create fresh, seasonal, and organic scrubs, creams, masks, and balms.

Year-round fun from the door

With 300 days of sunshine a year, guests are invited to embrace the snowy adventures. Six Senses Crans-Montana goes above and beyond to cater to ski enthusiasts. Its slopeside setting offers immediate access to more than 140 kilometers of ski runs and a variety of slopes ranging from beginner to expert, and even a World Cup run.

From personalized equipment fittings to insider tips on the best trails, the concierge team ensures that every moment on the slopes is tailored to guests’ preferences. For the utmost convenience, the on-site ski shop offers a selection of the latst equipment and skiwear available for both rentals and purchases. The winter adventures extend beyond the slopes as there are also opportunities for winter hiking, ice skating, ice hockey, and curling.

In the summer months, there are hiking and mountain biking trails right from the door, with paragliding offering the best views of the valley. Top-level golf can also be found at the famous Severiano Ballesteros 18-hole, Jack Nicklaus 9-hole, and esteemed Crans-sur-Sierre golf club, which has played host to some of the world’s finest golfers.

New retreats

Yoga and skiing are a match made in the mountains. In partnership with former ski champion Giorgio Rocca, the first Ski & Yoga Retreat will be held from March 7 to 10, 2024. For the beginner, improver, or experienced skier, Giorgio Rocca teachers will support guests to greater flexibility, strength, and relaxation, incorporating yoga, fitness preparation, biohacking, and sound healing recovery.

Following a sensational inaugural retreat this fall, Sanctum will be back by popular demand from October 3 to 6, 2024, inviting guests to the mountains to experience inner elevation. Founded by partners Luuk Melisse and Gabriel Olszewski, Sanctum was born from the desire to push physical, mental, and spiritual boundaries and to live a richer life as a result. With influences including kundalini, Native American vision quests, Buddhist therapies, primal movement, t'ai chi, and “ha” chanting from Japanese martial arts, guests are invited to open their hearts and activate their collective energy with the community around them.
