September 7, 2020 - We continue to prove our worth as leaders in sustainability and wellness. However, we don’t think it’s too cheeky to say we have a third (!) side to our coin: experiences. You know, the ones that you might only do once but that keep you warm for a lifetime.
Globally recognized as the leaders in sustainability for the hospitality sector, we have been providing eco-friendly wellness breaks for more than two decades. But it’s providing wow-worthy experiences that really get us up and going in the morning.
For when privacy is paramount, how about staying on a secluded tropical island to disconnect from distractions and reconnect with loved ones?
If you’ve been storing up an amazing celebration or get-together after months of being apart, Félicité Island, Seychelles is unspoiled yet enhanced with every creature comfort. Swim with turtles at the Koko Island sanctuary, take a sunset cruise, indulge in our delicious Eat With Six Senses chef’s table and Champagne tasting or simply relax with a good book.
We’re extending our offer period so you can take over the entire island for your exclusive use for up to 20 guests in a choice of villas and residences. All meals are included, with menus created especially for your group and you’ll have full access to the resort facilities, with no other guests on the island.

Our romantic 19th-century manor house set overlooking the vineyard-covered slopes of a UNESCO World Heritage site just beyond Porto is a flagship for sustainability. Eco-conscious to the heart, Six Senses Douro Valley’s approach to recycling, going plastic-free and funding social enterprises have been part of its core values since its inception.
It has recently been integrated into the AJH’s ‘Historic Douro Gardens Route’ under a program financed by Turismo de Portugal. So far 3,500 botanical species have been recorded, including oak, arbutus, acer, blue cedar, Atlantic spruce, exotic palms and giant fir trees. It is now organizing exclusive tours through its own gardens as well as those of other stately homes belonging to the Historical Gardens association, Casa de Mateus and Santar Vila Jardim.
Casa de Mateus represents the epitome of baroque architecture and an example of a centuries-old unbroken family tradition passed down from a bygone era. Six Senses guests are exclusively invited to visit the palace and classified historical gardens, with the option to enjoy a traditional lunch or dinner in the picturesque and authentic old family kitchen or spectacular dining hall.
You can also visit the village gardens and have a wine tasting followed by a picnic lunch at the Casa de Santar e Magalhães loggia overlooking the gardens or under one of the garden pergolas. After the visit, Pedro Vasconcellos e Souza or his team, will guide you through the unique Dão wines of Santar Vila Jardim, its grape varieties and distinctive terroir.
A short drive away, or a stimulating morning walk up the hillside near Six Senses Punakha, Chorten Ningpo is a thriving monastic community housing around 50 young novices and five teachers.
A novice’s life at Chorten Ningpo follows a strict daily program, starting at 4:00 am with morning prayers, followed by classes including computer science, two hours of English lessons, music lessons on the trumpet, drums and bells, and evening debate sessions to learn Buddhist teaching and presentation skills. Two daily meals are simple but fresh, natural and hearty. Guests staying at Six Senses Punakha are invited to join the morning rice and curry breakfast or afternoon tea.
For the community at Chorten Ningpo, your visit provides an opportunity to connect with worlds far beyond these hand-painted walls, as they share insights into the lives of young people of Bhutan today. Theirs is an inspiring example of how the old ways of Bhutan’s deeply entrenched Buddhist social network continue to play a meaningful role in the lives of young people.
Six Senses Punakha, our Flying Farmhouse amidst the Rice Fields, is one of five lodges that are set in intimate and unique locations. The best way to gain a true understanding of this Kingdom rich in culture, tradition and spirituality is to journey through it. Tailor-made journeys between four and 10 nights enable you to explore at your own pace through Thimphu, Punakha, Gangtey, Bumthang and Paro.
