April 17, 2019 - At Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain, you don’t have to go very far afield for some wholesome family fun. Right on site there are cooking classes in the resort’s organic garden. Just watch out for the fiery “ma la” mix.
Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain is always on hand to help families create special moments and memories together. What better way to start than by answering the age-old, seven days a week, 52 weeks a year family question: “What’s for dinner?”
Our Eat With Six Senses philosophy is a commitment to using responsible ingredients and produce from the local community and resort’s own gardens. The result is better for the environment and much better for you too. With this in mind, why not have a go at producing your own farm-to-fork menu? Join the culinary team and explore the resort’s private and exclusive organic garden, pick fresh veggies and learn the art of home-style cooking taught by chefs.
Turn up the heat during a Sichuan cooking class. This is really all about a variety of flavors: spicy, salty, smoky and many more. This fun and hands-on activity teaches you to prepare signature dishes. Just go easy on the “ma la” a combination of fiery chili peppers and Sichuan peppercorns.
As a family friendly resort, Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain has also designed a special cooking class for little guests along with plenty of opportunities to explore the organic garden.
A really special moment for all the family is to join the giant panda tour. Panda Valley is just a 10-minute drive from the resort. You’ll receive a private lecture from professional educators regarding their nutrition plan. Discover if these magnificent animals only like bamboo for tea or if (excuse the pun) they occasionally branch out.
Did you know meal planning is good for humans as well as pandas? Not only does it help to relieve the stress of the infernal what’s-for-dinner question, but it also promotes a healthier diet. When you cook, you know what is going into your food, helping you to keep track of any additives. This leads to a more varied diet with more fruits and vegetables and less soda and fatty foods. Eating together also promotes a healthier family. When children are feeling down or something bad has happened during the day, a family dinner can act as a positive intervention.
