AMAALA's ancient desert mountains hold more than they let on at first glance. Behind the resort, the coastal plain rises into canyons, wadis, and hills carved by wind and water over thousands of years. Out here, there’s much to discover: acacia holding on where nothing else grows, hyrax watching from the rocks, and birds-eye views across all of AMAALA. Whether you're on foot or on an e-bike, our AKUN guides have walked these wadis long enough to point out what most people would walk straight past.

This walk moves at a pace built for looking, not covering distance, through wadis that hold more life than a quick glance would suggest. Our guides will show you which plants store water for years between rains and how local wildlife reads a landscape most people write off as empty. This outing is gentle enough for children from the age of eight, and will show something new for everyone, even if you've seen a desert many timess before.
