From popcorn to maki rolls and amazing chocolate-dipped fruit, it’s a race to the finish in the Eat With Six Senses studio!
A little note: this video was filmed before physical distancing regulations came into force. Celia and Jonathan can’t wait to get back together in the kitchen soon, and nor can we!
Cheesy popcorn recipe
- 90 g (½ cup) popcorn kernels
- 120 ml (½ cup) coconut oil (can substitute grapeseed or olive oil), divided
- 16 g (¼ cup) nutritional yeast, flakes or powder
- Kosher or sea salt, to taste
- chlorella + seaweed powder
- truffle salt (for the adults!)
- TEST. Add 60 ml (¼ cup) of oil in a heavy bottom pot. Add two kernels to the pot, bring to medium high heat and cover. When the kernels have popped, this indicates the heat is at the right temperature.
- POP. Remove the popped corn and add the remainder kernels. Cover and shake the pot gently until all the kernels are coated with oil. Slightly open the lid to allow steam to escape. This will create more crispy popcorn.
- LISTEN & SHAKE. The kernels will begin popping slowly at first, then at a more rapid speed. Shake the pot to distribute evenly. Once the popping slows down to a few seconds in between pops, remove from heat. Leave popcorn in the pot for another minute or two for the final pops. Transfer to a large bowl.
- FLAVOR. Pour nutritional yeast over popcorn. Toss to coat. Pour oil into pot, add salt and heat on low for 30 seconds. Drizzle over popcorn. Give it a nice toss to coat. Add other flavors if desired, or enjoy as is!
Easy peasy chocolate sauce recipe
Your favorite bar of dark chocolate (or whatever is in your fridge!)
Your choice of toppings:
- Toasted coconut
- Crushed nuts
- Bee pollen
- Get creative!
- DOUBLE BOILER. Fill a small saucepan with 2 inches (5 cm) of water. Place a dry, heat-safe mixing bowl over the pan. The bowl should fit over the pan creating a seal to trap steam. The water should not touch the bottom of the bowl. (Check by lifting the bowl to see if the bottom of the bowl is wet). Break chocolate into small pieces and place in the bowl.
- STIR. Once chocolate starts to melt, gently stir or whisk until smooth and shiny. Transfer chocolate to a dipping bowl.
- DIP. The fun part! Dip your fruit skewers in the chocolate sauce and sprinkle with your choice of toppings.
