VP TALKS with Jill Banwell: Autumnal Crystal Healing

Why are we attracted to certain colored crystals? What does this mean and how can we tap into them to boost our mood as the seasons change

Gemstones have been appreciated through the ages for their natural beauty and healing properties. Each crystal has a particular energetic vibration according to its chemical composition, which also determines its color.  The pure energies of crystals can positively influence our own energies, making them a favored tool for energy healing and chakra balancing.

When encountering a collection of crystals, most people find that they are especially drawn to certain crystals, or groups of crystals.  Allowing ourselves to simply be guided by which crystals we are attracted to, we will intuitively choose those that offer the energetic vibrations that are most beneficial for us at that time.  Which particular gemstones we are drawn to may often change according to what we are experiencing in our outer lives and in our inner world.

Broadly speaking, the color of a crystal corresponds to the major chakra or chakras that it resonates with, so the color of the crystal or crystals that you find most appealing will give you a big clue about what you currently require at the energetic level.

Dark colored or black crystals, such as Jet, Haematite, Red Garnet, Smokey Quartz and Snowflake Obsidian influence the Base Chakra, helping us to be more grounded in our connection with our own bodies and the physical world.

The vibration of the Sacral Chakra, just below the belly button, is complemented by bright orange colored crystals such as Carnelian, and crystals containing flecks of bright orange such as Bloodstone.  As the Sacral Chakra relates to our creative sensitivity and emotion, Moonstone is another gem that positively affects this energetic center.

Amber, Citrine, Tigers Eye and Orange Calcite are all in the yellow range of the color spectrum which corresponds to the Solar Plexus Chakra.  These crystals will work on our motivation, will-power and confidence to follow our path.

The Heart Chakra – the energetic center of love, compassion, forgiveness and joy – resonates with two colors.  If this chakra needs attention you may be drawn to rose pink crystals, such as Rose Quartz, Rhodocrosite, Pink Opal and Rhodonite, or to green crystals like Jade, Green Aventurine and Peridot.

Turquoise-colored minerals, such as Turquoise and Chrysocolla, harmonize the self-expression of the Throat Chakra and they also boost the immune system and have protective qualities.  As the center of communication, the Throat Chakra is influenced by all blue stones, such as Blue Lace Agate, Sodalite and Kyanite.

Dark blue crystals, such as Sodalite and Lapis Lazuli, and violet crystals, like Amethyst and Purple Fluorite, resonate with the Third Eye chakra, the center of our perception.  Each crystal will influence the Third Eye in a particular way according to its unique vibration.  For example, Sodalite is calming for the mind, increasing our clarity of thought, whereas Lapis Lazuli stimulates intuition and creative visualization.

The Crown Chakra on the top of the head is the center of our spiritual connection with the angels, spiritual guides and higher levels of consciousness.  White gemstones, such as Selenite, gold stones, such as Rutilated Quartz, and purple stones such as Amethyst, enhance awareness and openness to the influence of the high energies of the spiritual dimension.

Clear Quartz, as a completely transparent, colorless gemstone, may be used to boost the vibration of any or all of the chakras as it lifts the energy in a general way.

As the seasons change and we move from the light and warmth of summer, through the transition of autumn, towards the darker, colder days of winter, many of us find that our mood is affected at some point.

One of the crystals that can help us to keep our energy high during this shift is Amethyst, which is considered to be one of the best crystals for helping us to accept change.  Being more at peace with the seasonal shifts allows us to access the creative opportunities offered by the new reality.

Six Senses Wellness is

If we find we are feeling sad, perhaps missing the qualities and activities of the summer, Rhodochrosite is a very useful mineral as it gently clears layers of sadness from the heart.  It is very complementary to use it in combination with Rose Quartz which opens the heart to experience the joyful moments of life in any season.

If lethargy and lack of physical energy are an issue, then Carnelian would be the stone of choice to re-energize and revitalize.  If you are feeling a lack of motivation, then Tiger’s Eye will help you to get back on track.

If you get the chance, why not visit a crystal shop and allow your intuition to guide you towards the gemstones that will be most helpful for you personally at this time? To enable the crystals that you choose to influence your energy you could even wear them as jewelry or keep them close to you in your pocket or purse.  You can place bigger pieces in your home and enjoy their added decorative purpose.  The quality of the crystal is more important than the size.

Maintaining your energetic equilibrium as the seasons change will help to keep you feeling balanced and your immune system strong so that you can make the most of the months ahead.
