Maria Linghult – visiting from April 22 to 30
Has walked a path trying to create the perfect life - a successful business career and high achievements in sports and social recognition – only to recognize that life is not about that. She has found that true lasting contentment comes from the inside and has little to do with the outside. In a clear and encouraging way Maria shares her knowledge and guides participants to effortlessly move into different yoga poses. She combines many different practices, such as asanas and vinyasa flow (postures), yin and restorative yoga (restores deeper structures in the body), pranayama (breathing exercises), meditation and more.
Claudio Menezes– visiting from May 1 to 30
Is rated as one of the top 10 therapists in the world by The Telegraph in the UK and trained at CEAN, the alternative health center in Madrid. Claudio is a master reflexologist, practicing a therapy known in Asia for more than 1,000 years that uses pressure and stimulation on the soles of the feet to influence different parts of the body. Sublimely relaxing, Claudio, who also specializes in sports massage, can heal many ailments. If it's painful, that is a sign of something wrong with the part of the body corresponding to the area of your foot that made you wince, indicating that reflexology is also a diagnostic tool.
Toby MacGuire – visiting from June 1 to 30
Returns by popular demand to Six Senses Douro Valley in June. Toby has been practicing Eastern Medicine for nearly 20 years, specializing in enabling healing of the body and mind, addressing physical pain and psychological blockages. His expertise includes acupuncture, Chinese abdominal massage, pain relief massage, reiki, hypnotherapy, qigong and meditation.
Suraj Varma – visiting from July 1 to 18 and September 30 to October 18
Is a registered Ayurvedic medical practitioner and learned about healing and positive energy of ayurveda from his family in Kerala. Suraj combines the best of traditional therapies, including ayurvedic massage, prana healing and reflexology, with a variety of Western techniques such as aromatherapy, lymphatic drainage and hot-stone therapy. His treatments are known for their ability to pinpoint problem areas and provide long-lasting results, whether it is for stress management, backache, insomnia, poor circulation, stiff muscles, or more complicated illness related to the imbalance of the tridoshas (vata, pitta and kapha).
Shaylini Popat – visiting from August 1 to 21
Is a professional reiki master, a teacher and a visiting practitioner. Shaylini will be providing reiki and energy healing treatments. Reiki is a spiritual healing art with its roots in Japan. Reiki is the life energy that flows through all living things. It is believed that a person’s qi or energy should be strong and free-flowing. When this is the case a person is physically, mentally, and emotionally balanced and their body and mind are in a positive state of health. When the energy becomes weak or blocked it could lead to symptoms of physical or emotional imbalance. The art of reiki is a healing technique whereby the reiki practitioner administers energy healing by means of touch. Reiki simultaneously works to balance the chakras in the body, enabling the body to heal itself. Reiki is a natural and non-invasive, holistic healing technique that works on all four levels of our being: mental, physical, emotional and spiritual.
