When to Visit

Six Senses Fiji - Beachfront Pool Villa deck

The exceptional location of Fiji Islands makes it warm all year round and is considered a tropical destination. Temperatures stay fairly constant through the year, with weather typically warm and humid. The tropical season is known as February and March and peak season is typically between July and September when the weather is more reliably dry.

Nature Seasons

October to April

Turtle Breeding/Nesting
Islands in the Mamanucas confirmed by sighting to be breeding or nesting sites for turtles include, Namotu, Tavarua, Mana, Treasure, Navini and South Sea Island. Out of the 23 islands in the Mamanuca group, there are 19-recorded nesting sites.

Mid December to Mid March

Turtle Hatchlings
Tiny turtles erupt from their nest deep in the sand and begin their life or death race to the sea.

Sports Seasons

Sailing
The sailing season in Fiji begins in April and ends around December.

Fishing
January to April is when the conditions are more likely to be suitable in Fiji for fishing.

Snorkeling
This activity is recommended all year round, although October to April claims to be the optimal period.

Diving
The dive season is all year round. The winter months of April to October represent the main season for scuba diving in Fiji in terms of visitor numbers, although the visibility tends to peak between the months of July and December when the water is cooler (sometimes, although seldom as cool as 22°C).

Surfing
Surfing in Fiji is a year round activity.  April to October sees the SE trade winds greeted by an abundance of SW swells which transform the reefs into a true surfer’s paradise. Since this is the Southern Hemisphere’s winter the water can give off a slight chill if the wind is up but for the most part the adrenaline will keep your attention up and your body warm. From November to March the wave factory slows down a bit but there is still ample opportunity for any size swell. This time of year is accentuated with calm or light winds and glassy waters.
