Six Senses Fiji to Open in Late 2017

BANGKOK – May 10, 2016 – Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas is delighted to announce the latest project in the group’s expanding portfolio in the island country of Fiji. This small archipelago in the South Pacific is comprised of 332 islands and nearly one million inhabitants spread throughout the major islands of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Approximately one third of the islands are uninhabited, ranging in size from 3,800 square miles (10,000 square kilometers) to tiny islands or sand spits a few hundred meters in circumference.

Known for its idyllic crystal clear waters, white sandy beaches, thick tropical forests and excellent climate, Six Senses Fiji is located in a magnificent secluded bay on Fiji’s Malolo Island. The private golden sand beach frontage stretches over 2,100 feet (650 meters) in length. Previously known as Vunabaka integrated resort development, all aspects of the project will be managed by Six Senses upon opening.

Six Senses Fiji will offer 26 spacious pool bures (villa) all with private plunge pools and the bures range in size from 1,200 to 1,600 square feet (110 to 150 square meters) including interior and exterior space. There are also 60 luxury residences (3-, 4- and 5-bedroom configuration) and these luxury residences are also part of Six Senses Fiji’s extraordinary accommodation offering. The 60 residences vary in size and average from approximately 6,500 square feet (600 square meters) of interior and exterior space up to 10,500 square feet (1,000 square meters) all with private pools and situated on the west side of the island where they enjoy the idyllic Fijian sunsets.

The property will include a superb range of culinary and beverage offerings, including two restaurants plus an outdoor pizzeria and grill, three bar options, a gourmet food market and a walk-in wine cellar and tasting table, all set amongst the tropical landscape. Locally inspired and sustainably sourced, the resort’s cuisine will feature ingredients grown onsite in the resort market gardens and from local farmers, markets and fishermen.

Six Senses Spa Fiji is featured within the resorts wellness village, where guests will enjoy a layered approach to wellness that unites a pioneering spirit with treatments that go beyond ordinary. At Six Senses Fiji, guests will find an intuitive mix of science and human awareness, where our high-tech and high-touch approach defines a service that is crafted around the individual.  The spa will feature the multidimensional Six Senses Integrated Wellness program which starts with a wellness assessment that evaluates a number of different and important bio-markers. Results allow the spa team to determine behavioral and lifestyle change and create a personalized program based on the needs of the guest. Created by the Six Senses Spas team along with respected medical doctors - Dr. Michael Breus for sleep, Dr. Steven Gundry for nutrition and Dr. Mehmet Oz for overall health, each guest’s personalized program may include spa treatments, exercise, yoga, meditation and sleep tips and guidance.

Sustainability lives at the foundation of the Six Senses Fiji and will be reflected throughout the resort through active management of energy, water, waste, biodiversity, purchasing and chemical usage. The resort will be 100 percent solar powered and the first micro grid in the world to use Tesla batteries. The project includes tree reforestation on site to offset wood used in construction and also coral reforestation to promote sea life and enhance the local marine environment. The resort will feature all LED lights to ensure the highest levels in LED efficiency.

The resort will also include a treetop yoga platform, state-of-the-art fitness gym, recreation club house with flood lit tennis and a comprehensive Kid’s Center. Other recreation activities on offer will include world class surfing, boating, sailing, diving, snorkeling and sea kayaking. Also, two full-service marinas are located within the resort and will be available for guest’s private yachts, as well as for charter leisure boats.

Six Senses Fiji is slated to open late 2017. Easy access is available from Nadi International Airport via a 40-minute boat journey from Denarau Marina and the option of a 10-minute helicopter or seaplane flight.
