Ana Mattos, Visiting Practitioner
Ana initially worked as a nurse in her homeland Brazil, where she specialized in the areas of intensive care, post cardiac surgery and women's health. While living in New Zealand she trained in sports massage therapy, and Bach flower remedies and developed an interest for manual therapies before relocating to London for further studies.
After relocating to London (UK) Ana went on to study osteopathic medicine and graduated from The British College of Osteopathic Medicine (BCOM) in 2004, following with a Masters in Paediatric Osteopathy and further training on osteopathy in the cranial field.
Osteopathy for adults
Osteopathy aims to optimize general health by treating structural and mechanical imbalances/ dysfunctions. It can be helpful in assisting the treatment of many conditions related to the spine, joints, ligaments, connective tissue and the internal organs. The treatment can be applied safely to patients of all ages from babies, pregnancy and the elderly.
A baby can suffer from the natural molding process that occurs intrauterine and at birth. A Paediatric osteopathic checkup is recommended and possible treatment can help to alleviate symptoms of baby colic, mechanically caused feeding difficulty. Decrease the occurrence of flat head syndrome and others. Osteopathy can assist in maintaining optimum structural balance to the growing body. The pain and discomfort can lead to postural imbalance and compensation that will influence in the alignment of the body when the child reaches adulthood. An osteopathic checkup is recommended before and during teenager years.
Recommended for all ages and useful on the treatment of postural/mechanical, hormonal imbalances and other conditions that are connected with both the biomechanics and the physiology of the body. Recovering after giving birth, premenstrual syndrome, peri/during menopause and others.
