Living in harmony at Zighy Bay
As a resort built on the idea of sustainable, we have a very active environmental program, upholding the universal commitment of the Six Senses group. Our social engagement includes supporting local schools, hospitals and charities such as Sharjah Charity International, helping to fund and taking part in educational, health and social projects.
Environmental Responsibility
Our environmental projects include creating a marine protected area on the Musandam Peninsula and mainland Oman while increasing education and capacity building.

100% organic in-house waste recycling and up-cycling.
All of the organic waste from our kitchens, landscaping and animal residue is converted to compost in-house either mechanically or traditionally, which enabled the resort to reduce the amount of waste going to the local landfill by 80 percent in 2018.

Ghostbusters of the Gulf
Diving hosts at Six Senses Zighy Bay are trained to remove ghost nets left by fishermen and rescue sea creatures that have been caught in them. The initiative was first introduced by the Oliver Ridley Project in the Indian Ocean. Not satisfied with cleaning up the ocean bed, the resort team also organizes beach cleanups on a monthly basis. These are made more fun by arranging sand art days, with guests invited to attend during Earth Day. Clean-up activities are continuously organized on special events day such as World Environment Day and International Coastal Cleanup Day too.

Trees for the earth
Keeping the earth green is not been a new effort in Zighy Bay. From the first quarter of 2016, Six Senses Zighy Bay has been continuously making initiatives to involve hosts, villagers, the local municipality and also guests in tree planting to make Zighy Bay as well as the near town Dibba a beautiful green landscape.

Producing our own water through our Crystal Plant
We obtain crystal clear still and sparkling drinking water through a reverse osmosis process in our Crystal Plant, which is then filled into Six Senses glass bottles. Not only is it better for the environment and great at reducing plastic waste, it passes the taste test with guests too!
Social Responsibility
Our projects offer financial aid for women’s associations, medical aid for villagers and sponsorship for the local sports club of Dibba.

Women's access to education
We are associated with the Zighy Village and local schools in the neighboring township of Dibba, where we support the community both in cash and kind. Examples include teaching assistance, infrastructure funding and strategic aid to support the education and empowerment of students at the local Girl’s School, Sakina Bent Al Hussein.

Nurturing health and fitness
We contribute to the local sports club of Dibba so they can source the right equipment and launch programs to promote a balanced work life, health and fitness as well as wellness. We also extend medical aid to people in need, especially for costly items such as hearing aids, basic medical necessities for villagers and a medication allowance and support for particular medical cases.

By sponsoring programs and activities that improve women's equality, we support their mission to upgrade their skills and contribution towards the local community.
