Preserving and protecting the world’s first carbon-negative country

Six Senses Bhutan integrates sustainability into its operations by locally sourcing food and products, supporting local farmers and artisans, and making seasonal menu changes that incorporate ingredients from the lodge’s own organic gardens. The resort engages with local communities through guest donations, such as providing regular support to the monks of the 16th-century Chorten Nyingpo hilltop monastery in Punakha, where the most recent projects included the addition of an indoor classroom and two outdoor reading salas for the summer, a football field for recreation time, renovations to the dining and kitchen area for the 170 resident monks, and an ongoing project to build a two-story library. Overall, Six Senses Bhutan focuses on environmental conservation, cultural preservation, and community engagement, promoting responsible tourism to preserve Bhutan's natural and cultural heritage for future generations.
