Sustainability at Six Senses Samui
Since opening in 2004, Six Senses Samui has placed sustainability at its heart, from mindful operations and sourcing to community clean-ups and events such as The Samui Green Market. Join us at the Earth Lab to discover creative ways to upcycle materials from Farm on the Hill and around the resort or the Alchemy Bar for hands-on workshops that bring traditional Thai herbalism to life. At Farm on the Hill, discover our approach to waste reduction, circularity, and farming that works with nature, not against it.
Environmental Responsibility
At Six Senses Samui, sustainability is reflected in daily choices. We partner with local organizations on environmental and social initiatives while reducing single-use plastics and waste. This includes working with suppliers to cut unnecessary packaging, choosing reusable alternatives, and separating waste for recycling. We also invite guests and hosts to get involved through Earth Lab activities, workshops, and nature-based experiences, turning simple everyday actions into opportunities to learn and create positive impact for Samui.

Leaf Bank at Baan Plai Laem School
As part of Baan Plai Laem School’s Leaf Bank initiative in 2025, we helped build compost tanks to give fallen leaves a new purpose. Our hosts worked alongside the school to turn organic waste into nutrient-rich compost. The initiative helps reduce waste and costs while giving students a hands-on way to learn about waste reduction, composting, and caring for their environment.
Social Responsibility
At Six Senses Samui, caring for our community is part of who we are. From beach clean-ups and tree planting to school education and community markets, we create opportunities to give back while supporting local hospitals and schools with essential equipment. Our commitment starts with our people. Almost all of our hosts are locally hired, with more than 100 hosts trained in climate change awareness.

Samui Green Market
Held on the final Sunday of each month, Six Senses Samui joins the local community and hospitality partners at the Samui Green Market in Fisherman’s Village. We showcase produce from our Farm on the Hill, including fresh Thai herbs, vegetables, duck and chicken eggs, and recycled-wood charcoal, alongside healthy food and drinks prepared by our chefs. 10 percent of the profits are donated to local community initiatives.

Medical System Support for Koh Samui Hospital
In 2025 and 2026, we extended our support to Koh Samui Hospital by donating essential medical equipment, including blood pressure monitors, three medical humidifier machines, and three respiratory machines, all vital healthcare devices used within our local community.
