Artful awareness

August 19, 2025 - Greet a goddess in Ibiza, master Zen gardening in Kyoto, pick up a paintbrush in Rome, or make prayer flags in Bhutan. Our crafted experiences blend local traditions with restorative calm.

Let there be light

Ibiza attracts free-spirited seekers, drawn by the White Isle’s beauty and light. Now, on the untamed north coast at Six Senses Ibiza, an art installation has been unveiled that mirrors and magnifies the island’s dazzling luminosity. The brainchild of designer Sabine Marcelis, Tanit pays homage to the island’s warrior goddess of dance, fertility, creation, and destruction. Solar-powered, the installation lures you in like a siren’s call and becomes especially captivating at sunset and as darkness falls.

Tanit is supported by LYMA, the brand behind a high-performance cold laser technology set to take your skincare to the next level. Visit our dedicated spa cabin for a LYMA Infinite Glow facial to boost skin regeneration, enhance firmness, reduce pigmentation, and reveal lasting brightness. LYMA founder, Lucy Goff, shares: “Something deep is happening where art, science, and soul meet in Ibiza. This unique partnership is a reminder that light doesn’t just illuminate, it restores.” Book your glow up at spa-ibiza@sixsenses.com

Moving meditation

Kyoto is fragrant with sublime gardens. Hidden within ancient temples and on colorful display in parks, they offer a calm refuge from the bustling city streets. Explore Zen gardening at Six Senses Kyoto and experience a form of moving meditation and self-reflection as you craft your own landscape under the guidance of renowned Zen garden and meditation master, Noriyuki Takao.

For 35 years, Noriyuki has designed meditation spaces and served as custodian of one of Kyoto’s great temples. His classic Zen karesansui, or dry gardens, use rocks, gravel, sand, and moss to represent the natural world. This is a creative opportunity to connect with nature and art amidst the serene beauty of old Japan. The experience concludes with a guided meditation session and cup of traditional matcha to ground you more deeply.

Prayer flag making

Colorful prayer flags fluttering in the breeze are among the most vivid and authentic representations of life in Bhutan. During a mindful journey to Six Senses Paro, one of five lodges scattered like gemstones across the Kingdom, why not create your own and discover the secrets of this age-old craft? It’s surprisingly meditative to let your mind drift while your hands are busy.

You’ll be welcomed into the home of a Bhutanese family that has been making handprinted prayer flags for generations. Situated amid expansive paddy fields, their three-story farmhouse offers a rare glimpse into local culture and long-held beliefs. After your prayer flag session, enjoy a hearty lunch and treasure trove of artifacts and antiquities in the private family altar room. This activity can be combined with our Seasonal Discovery offer curated by Six Senses Bhutan for each of our guests, where you can enjoy up to three nights with our compliments for special travel periods.

Art therapy

Six Senses Rome invites you to tap into your inner artist and discover serenity at a one-of-a-kind Art Therapy Workshop. Hosted in our peaceful urban oasis, the workshop begins with a calming meditation to promote inner healing before exploring the restorative nature of color. The handcrafted watercolors are made from Arabic gum, local honey, and rosemary oil by Italian artisanal paint producers A. Gallo Colors, who also supply our Painting & Printmaking Workshop. This session includes a wholesome and sumptuous breakfast in our leafy courtyard, along with creative guidance from local artists and botanical illustrators on the art of contrasting light and shadow in color.

You’ll then be ready to follow in the footsteps of Caravaggio, the master of chiaroscuro or dramatic contrasts, on a Walking Tour of Rome, visiting the Borghese, Barberini, and Doria Pamphilj with knowledgeable art historians.
