Find your inner child in Bhutan

We all have an inner child within us. It is widely recognized in psychology as a sensitive and spontaneous part of ourselves. Giving it more freedom will noticeably increase energy and health while enabling access to creative inspirations.

However, this child rarely gets to come out and play. It is usually under the control of the waking conscious mind. As we grow up, programming and limiting beliefs are often received that can manifest as obstacles in life, diminishing happiness. “Always on” becomes woven into our daily lives and “busy” becomes high status. But what are we missing out on?

Reconnecting to curiosity and a sense of wonder is the purpose behind Six Senses Gangtey, which is open and accepting reservations from October 1, 2019. This is precisely the time of year that the spiritual black-necked cranes arrive from Tibet each year to enjoy the clear skies and pleasant weather. At an elevation of 9,843 feet (3,000 meters) on the western slopes of the Black Mountains, rural Gangtey is a designated conservation area and the site of the 16th -century Gangtey Goemba monastery.

While you’re with us you’ll be invited to stop the business and pause to see the world as we did when we were children, with a sense of awe. Print a prayer flag, build a stone stupa on one of your walks, make a mandala from sticks, stones and leaves or chant a mantra with some monks, just for the fun of it.

In addition to its beautifully-appointed suites there is also a two-bedroom villa with generous private living space. There’s also the spa, where every treatment starts with a journey of discovery and the inclusion of a sodalite crystal to set positive intentions through breathing and meditation. This is followed by Bhutanese chanting and singing bowls, promoting stillness, happiness and well-being. Try out the Holistic Massage, a fully personalized 60- or 90-minute treatment based on your needs and desired results. It uses flowing, soothing, rhythmical and medium pressure movements on any specified areas of concern to relieve muscle tension and bring about a balanced, calm and stress-free state of being.

You may decide to stay at Six Senses Gangtey for your entire visit (in fact, you won’t want to leave), but if you're curious about everything that Bhutan has to offer, we can plan a tailor-made journey that will include a combination of Thimphu, Punakha, Gangtey, Bumthang and Paro. The properties range in size and facilities; however, all include our pioneering spa and wellness offering, wholesome and sustainable cuisine, sleep health and self-discovery.

Bhutan is accessible by plane via Bangkok, Delhi, Kathmandu, Kolkata and Singapore.
