Yogic Sleep

The main element of this program is Yoga nidra, also known as yogic sleep or sleep with awareness. This simple yet hugely effective practice is taught lying down and its goal is to induce full body relaxation and a deep meditative state of consciousness, addressing practitioner’s psychological, neurological and subconscious needs. It also provides a set of mind-body tools that can help guests achieve everyday well-being and often navigate some of life’s hardest moments. Regular practice leads to the most profound level of relaxation, improved sleep patterns and a stronger immune system.

Private sessions of pranayama and guided meditation together with relaxing spa treatments enhance the results of this program.

At Six Senses resorts, the guest’s journey to better sleep continues in privacy of their villa. Optimal room temperature, relaxation music, energy cleansing room and pillow mists plus sleep-boosting snacks are just some of the features Six Senses resorts will offer to enhance the effects of the Yogic Sleep program.

Each guest receives a sleep journal to clear the mind, process daily experiences or simply prepare for tomorrow by writing their thoughts down. A guide with practical take-home techniques is provided for creating an ideal body, mind and environment for sleep.

Additional benefits of practicing yoga nidra include reduction of stress hormone and sympathetic nervous arousal, restorative and regenerative effects at cellular and tissue levels that improve longevity and lead to better health, improved immunity, enhances memory and learning capacity, and better emotional control.
