When you or someone you love has spent too much time typing, Susie Mermaid has the perfect answer – a hand massage! In this video, Susie gives us a very simple and short routine for bringing new life to tired hands.
But first, in case you or someone you know needs convincing, here are some good reasons to do more massage…
We all know massage feels good but why does it ease muscle tension and reduce pain and anxiety? To start, it relaxes our soft tissues, which can reduce painful contractions and spasms. By increasing blood flow and circulation of healthy nutrients to tense muscles, it can also help our body function better as well as feel better. Massaging muscles also improves nerve function. Tense muscles groups can compress nerves and when they are more relaxed, the nerves can resume their work of transmitting messages to and from the brain unimpeded.
There are so many benefits of massage so grab a friend or family member and give each other a hand massage! Or take five minutes for yourself for a short and relaxing moment of self-care and give your hands some love. They’ll thank you for it!
As the days grow shorter here in the Northern Hemisphere and we head into autumn, this is the time of the year when nature comes alive with those deep and rich tones of color. These nourishing and warm autumn colors tell us, just like the tree that’s shedding its leaves, that it’s time let out a deep sigh for all the hard work of spring and summer and time to let go of what is no longer needed, and to prepare to slow down and go inwards.
