WATSU Practitioner and Instructor, WOGA Instructor
Starting her aquatic bodywork journey in 2017, Pooja Gautam has been on a journey to share the deeply relaxing and healing powers of Watsu (Water Shiatsu) - the world’s first form of aquatic bodywork.
With 1,093 hours of intensive training in Watsu, Woga (Water Yoga / Aqua Yoga), Oceanic Bodywork Aqua, Healing Dance, and related aquatic bodywork modalities, Pooja is among the foremost Indians to be a certified Watsu Practitioner and Instructor, and Woga Instructor by Worldwide Aquatic Bodywork Association (WABA).
She has been a pioneer in introducing and spreading Watsu® therapy in Mumbai and has worked with 1,000+ clients, including a majority of non-swimmers and aquaphobes, for a diverse set of needs ranging from stress management, relaxation, and rejuvenation to dealing with mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, among others.
Watsu® is suitable for everyone, including babies, pregnant women (after the third month until the time of delivery), and people of any age and mobility.
Watsu promotes deep relaxation, quieting the sympathetic and enhancing the parasympathetic nervous systems.
Watsu® (or Water Shiatsu) is a form of aquatic therapy for deep body-mind relaxation.
The receiver is back-floated in chest-deep warm water and while being continuously supported by a therapist, the body is rhythmically cradled, moved, stretched, and massaged in ways that are not possible on land. The reduced force of gravity in water coupled with the warmth of the water helps the body release deeply held tension.
Additionally, as a result of being held and moved in deeply secure and nurturing positions, Watsu® enables people to enter deep, meditative states of relaxation, expansion, and emotional release.
Woga is the union of two words: water and yoga. It is based on yoga poses and stretches modified for warm water.
Thanks to decrease in gravity, water allows greater ease of movement, unblocks joints, lengthens, and melts muscles, and removes negative tensions, thereby preventing stress, insomnia, and anxiety.
