Best spas for bliss

September 7, 2020 - Oh to be able to socially touch! As humans we rely on it and we miss it, which is why we’re introducing a Body Balance wellness activity to help you feel grounded, reconnected and back to your best new you!

To help us all get to the end of 2020 (and goodness knows the beginning has been tough enough), our spas are working on introducing a short Body Balance wellness activity to help you ground and reconnect.

“The past few months has certainly served as a ‘heart-opener’ for many so we created Body Balance to offer our guests a little TLC during this time,” says Tammy Dent, Director of Training – Spas. “At Six Senses, we would like to facilitate the deepening of this connection for our guests, supporting them as they move further along their personal wellness journey.”

Body Balance will incorporate elements such as crystal placement, aura cleansing, singing bowl vibrations, breath work, gentle stretching and visualization. The intention is to bring harmony to the mind and body given this challenging period that we are all navigating. More news soon!

In the meantime, for anyone missing the feeling of human touch, our spa-ahh therapists are on hand with a whole range of soul-soothing massages, skin-purifying scrubs and signature treatments that use locally sourced ingredients.

Six Senses Spa Elounda

On the north coast of eastern Crete, Elounda is a pretty and well-protected bay. With individual treatment rooms sharing glorious views across tranquil turquoise waters, Six Senses Spa Elounda reflects traditional architecture highlighted with contemporary features and beautiful works of art. It has won several top awards including Best Spa in Greece (Spafinder Readers’ Choice), Most Progressive Detox Program (Condé Nast Traveller Spa Awards) and more recently the Seven Stars Award (Seven Star Lifestyle and Hospitality Awards).

Where better then, to surrender to the care of Area Director Elli Soumaki and her team for a 60-minute Blissful Marma Massage? This uses long and firm flowing movements to melt away any tension while the marma therapy and chakra balancing techniques align your vital energy centers. Your therapist will apply enriching oils from Subtle Energies to balance your heart chakra – and you’ll love the result as you emerge with a smile and an enhanced sense of overall well-being.

Why not stay a little longer for the Sense of Greece wellness ritual? Over the course of 2 hours 30 minutes, go on a hydrating and nourishing spa journey that uses locally sourced oil and plant extracts to induce a deep sense of relaxation. This is followed by a gentle body exfoliation with Cretan olive stones, tired muscles are wrapped in warm seaweed to release tension. The Mediterranean Antioxidant Facial and Marine Salt Bath follow, with the Zeus Power Massage completing this journey. After all, the Greek god of all gods was born in a cave only 90 minutes from here, so why not harness some of his powers before you leave?

Six Senses Spa Mykonos

Staying in Greece, let’s hop islands. Known for its amazing beaches and great nightlife (it is actually just one long party), you may be forgiven for catching a few too many rays and not catching enough sleep while on Mykonos.

That’s why it feels extra blissful to enter the calming classic white walls, marble floors, timber features and Aegean blues of Six Senses Spa Mykonos. Pop in for a replenishing “Next Day” Recovery facial, which puts your skin and senses into an instant state of repair. It combines cooling antioxidants and cell renewal actives from Subtle Energies with marma massage techniques to release tension, improve blood flow and send you back out relaxed and ready for more.

Ideal for sun-exposed or damaged skin, the Soothe and Replenish Body Rescue is a cooling and hydrating treatment that uses a hydration mask enriched with aloe vera to reduce redness and help fight free radical damage. Once cooled, your skin then luxuriates in an intensive serum and butter that restores skin cells.

Six Senses Spa Marbella

Water and steam. Heat and ice. Sea and earth. Six Senses Spa Marbella combines the elements with the senses to create a fully immersive experience. The treatment rooms feature oak timber floors, traditional Andalusian architecture and local stone, providing an authentic and calming feel.

Our massages and wellness rituals use natural ingredients sourced from southern Spain including extra virgin olive oil, sea salt and mountain herbs. The Mediterranean Breeze treatment includes a stimulating body exfoliation using a herbal scrub infused with sea salt and olive oil to remove dead skin cells. It continues with the application of warm oil to re-mineralize the skin, leaving a long lasting feeling of well-being. It completes with a personalized back massage concentrating on areas of concern.

There are also hydrotherapy options in the tranquil wet area including our Signature Hammam, a deeply cleansing and refreshing experience starting with a scalp ritual and rejuvenating hair mask. It concludes with a gentle exfoliation using homemade aromatic soap to stimulate and rehydrate the skin.

Six Senses Spa Gstaad

With its Asian-inspired design features that also emulate the natural setting – from curved walls, water features and timbers – to its outdoor pool with the majestic snow-capped peaks in the background, Six Senses Spa Gstaad draws its energy from the Alpine heart of the Bernese Oberland.

The spa runs the entire range of Six Senses yoga programs, including Yoga Discovery, which is ideal for complete yoga novices looking for an alternative and enjoyable body and mind practice who wish to develop an understanding of how the body engages in each posture and enhance the body’s natural intuition.

It also offers a Holistic Anti-Aging Center, which combines scientific advances in nutrition, fitness and neuroscience with ancient wisdom from long-lived communities to achieve a healthy, balanced body and mind. Each journey starts with a wellness screening, and then a skin and sleep analysis so that experts can personalize the program to your specific needs according to three key steps:

Cleanse: Get rid of any misconceptions about nutrition, aging and beauty, while enjoying cleansing treatments and foods, journaling and affirmation practices, and detoxifying body and skincare treatments, yoga and breathing exercises.

Restore: Corrective skincare using fruit acids, mechanical intervention and facial muscle memory along with personalized nutrition and fitness plans and experiences with nature and music.

Nourish: Nutrients introduced into the skin through minimally invasive measures such as mild micro needling therapy and LED light stimulation, along with nurturing body treatments, nourishing foods and supplements and a treatment plan to follow at home.

Six Senses Spa Punta Cana

Surrounded by five miles of turquoise water and a pristine white sandy beach, Six Senses Spa Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic provides a beautiful and natural getaway from the stresses of modern life. The Punta Cana Signature Massage is a medium-pressure rub using coconut oil from local coconuts: try it at the start of the day before sunbathing. Then return later on for a totally tropical Anti-Oxidant Organic Cocoa and Sugar Cane body treatment, which starts with a blended sugar cane and coconut oil skin exfoliation and concludes with a cocoa and honey mask to rejuvenate your entire body just in time for dinner!

The spa is running a series of offers too, including double the fun with its Sense of Partnership, an 80-minute signature massage for you, while your partner or friend receives a 25-minute back massage too. If you can’t decide which treatment to go for, the Six Senses Essentials enables you to pick and mix a massage, facial and organic scrub.
