Pioneering wellness for little ones

It is our goal that every guest leaves us as a better person physically, emotionally and spiritually. That’s why, at all Six Senses properties, children’s activities are created to incorporate six dimensions of wellness (social, environmental, physical, spiritual, emotional and intellectual). Under the Grow With Six Senses umbrella, activities vary from one resort to the next. However, the focus is always on connecting with nature and personal growth through play.

For example, introducing children to yoga at an early age can help them learn healthy lifestyle habits and set the foundation for the future to cope with living in our “hurry-up” world.

Yoga encourages self-esteem and body awareness. It fosters cooperation and compassion instead of opposition. Physically, it enhances flexibility, strength and coordination. Mentally, it improves concentration and serenity. In fact, yoga is a great way to exercise, play and connect with the natural world by imitating the movements and sounds of animals and nature, experiencing union and exploring expression. Where else in life can you face down like a dog, flex your spine like a cat, open your chest like a cobra and take a breath like a lion?

Our yoga instructors offer specially-designed yoga classes for children, during which youngsters are taught some basic yoga poses.

Why not practice these poses as a family?

Can you copy these poses? Hold each one gently for three big breaths. Don’t worry if you can’t reach your toes; just go as far as your body wants to go.
